The world is full of expert knowledge and information about how to care for children with HIV. Yet there is a huge gap! Very few people have been asking the 'true' experts....the children themselves. Children with HIV are a formidable resource and if they are given the right opportunities, they have the capacity to shape the way the world understands and behaves towards this global pandemic.
Furthermore, HIV positive children represent one of the most powerful support strategies for other positive children. Yet children are rarely given the opportunities to participate in initiatives through which they may provide such support.
Maruva Trust is therefore supporting the development and distribution of child-led peer support resource materials. These are written by kids with HIV, for other kids with HIV and are being distributed in clinics across the African continent. In addition, Maruva is supporting the development of much needed training materials for health workers working with children with HIV.
